6th grade students used the rain barrels as a cross curricular activity with the novel “Long Walk to Water”. The students learned about the importance of recycling and water to survive. The design incorporates the community, area, and our academy. All grade levels had a part in creating the barrels. They were used at our lock-in as an activity for the students and our Open House. The students presented to the parents how the barrels are related not only to our academy, but to the novel that we read. It was a really cool relationship building activity for the students.
